๐๏ธ Three routes, all of them complete
- In-app: Settings โ Privacy โ Delete everything. Instant, irreversible, removes everything on the device including the vault key.
- Uninstall: Android's sandbox model deletes all App data automatically.
- Server records: email us your install ID and we delete your contributions, votes, reports and speed samples within 30 days.
- There is no account, no email, no profile โ we hold nothing that identifies you as a person.
There is no account to delete
WiFi Map never asks you to register. There is no username, no email address, no password, no phone number, no social login and no profile. We have never known who you are, and there is nothing on our side that could be linked back to you as a person.
What does exist is:
- Data on your device โ history, vault, cached tiles, settings. This is the vast majority of everything.
- Server records tied to a random install identifier โ only if you have contributed to the community map, voted, reported an entry, or shared a speed sample.
- Data held by third parties โ Google (advertising, analytics, purchases) and Firebase, under their own controls.
This page covers all three.
1 Delete Everything In-App
The fastest and most complete route:
- Open WiFi Map on your device.
- Go to Settings. Open the navigation drawer, then tap Settings.
- Tap Privacy.
- Tap "Delete everything". You will be asked to confirm, because this cannot be undone.
This immediately and permanently removes:
| Deleted | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Speed test history | Every recorded download, upload, latency and jitter result |
| Scan snapshots | Saved records of networks seen in past scans |
| Password vault | Every stored entry and the encryption key itself, which is wiped from secure storage โ remaining ciphertext would be unrecoverable even if it survived |
| Heatmaps and deep-scan reports | Saved coverage grids and generated analysis reports |
| Cached map tiles | Downloaded community hotspot data held locally |
| Queued uploads | Contributions, votes and reports waiting in the outbox that have not yet been sent |
| Settings and preferences | Your configuration, first-run state and feature toggles |
Back up your vault first if you need those passwords. Clearing local data destroys the encryption key. There is no recovery, no cloud backup, and no way for us to help โ we never had a copy.
Anything you had already uploaded to the community map is not removed by this step โ see ยง3.
2 Uninstall the App
Uninstalling removes all App data as a property of Android's application sandbox:
- Open Android Settings โ Apps.
- Find and open WiFi Map.
- Tap Uninstall, and confirm.
Alternatively, long-press the app icon and choose Uninstall, or remove it from the Play Store listing.
This deletes the App's private directory, its databases, its secure-storage entries and its cache. Your install identifier is deleted with it โ a fresh install generates a new random one, unconnected to the old.
If Android's backup service is enabled on your device, an encrypted backup may exist under your Google account. That backup is governed by Google, not us. To remove it, use Google One โ Settings โ Manage backups, or turn backup off for the App before uninstalling.
3 Delete Server-Side Records
This applies only if you have contributed to the community map, voted, reported an entry, or shared a speed sample. If you have never done any of those, we hold nothing about you at all and there is nothing to delete.
How to request
- Find your install ID in the App โ see ยง4. Copy it.
- Email contact@epsilondevelopers.xyz with the subject "Data deletion request".
- Include your install ID in the body. It is the only handle we have on your records โ without it we cannot locate them.
- Tell us the scope: everything associated with the install, or only specific contributions.
Or use this pre-filled message:
โ๏ธ Compose deletion request
Our timeline
| Step | When |
|---|---|
| We acknowledge your request | Within 7 business days |
| We delete the records | Within 30 days of the request |
| Published map tiles are rebuilt without them | Within hours of deletion |
| We confirm completion to you | On completion |
We do not charge for this, we do not require identity documents, and we do not ask you why.
4 Finding Your Install ID
In the App, open Settings โ About this app, then long-press the version number at the bottom of the screen. The install ID appears beneath it, with a Copy install ID button.
What it is
- A random UUID generated on your device the first time the App runs.
- Not the Android ID, not the advertising ID, not your IMEI, and not derived from any hardware identifier.
- It exists so the server has something to rate-limit and to attach moderation decisions to, without knowing who you are.
- It is destroyed when you clear local data or uninstall; a reinstall generates a new one.
Get the ID before you clear or uninstall. Once it is gone we have no way to link server records back to you, and we cannot action a deletion request without it.
5 What Gets Deleted, By Route

6 What We May Retain
We keep the minimum necessary, and we are explicit about the exceptions:
- Corroborated public venue entries. Where a hotspot you contributed has since been confirmed by other users, we may retain the entry in de-identified form โ with your install ID severed from it โ so the community dataset does not lose verified public information. It is then no longer connected to you in any way. You may still ask us to remove a specific entry entirely, and we will.
- Blocklist records. Where a network has been taken down at its owner's request, we retain a minimal record of that so it cannot be re-contributed. This contains no personal data about you.
- Abuse records. Where an install was blocked for abuse, we retain the identifier and the reason for a limited period so the block remains effective. Deleting it on request would defeat its purpose.
- Legal obligations. Where law requires retention, or where data is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, we keep the minimum for as long as necessary and no longer.
- Aggregate statistics. Counts and aggregates that contain no personal data and cannot be re-identified.
Each of these is a narrow exception, and none of them retains anything that identifies you as a person โ because we never held anything that did.
7 Third-Party Data
Some data is held by third parties under their own controls. We can tell you how to remove it, but we cannot do it for you.
๐ Google AdMob
Reset or delete your Advertising ID at Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads. Deleting it severs the link between past advertising activity and your device.
Google Privacy Policy โ๐ฅ Firebase Analytics
Analytics follows your advertising consent choice. Decline it โ or withdraw it at Settings โ Privacy โ Ad privacy options โ and collection stops, with Firebase instructed to reset the app instance ID, which detaches prior events.
Firebase Privacy โ๐ฅ Crashlytics
Disable crash reporting in the same Settings โ Privacy screen. Existing crash reports expire after 90 days under Google's default retention.
Firebase Privacy โ๐ Google Play
Purchase records are held by Google as part of your Play account history. Manage them through your Google account, not through us.
Google Account โIf you would like our help drafting a request to any of these providers, ask us and we will.
8 Purchases & Deletion
Deleting data does not cancel or refund a purchase, and a refund does not delete data. They are separate.
- Your entitlement to Remove Ads or Pro is tied to your Google account, not to your install ID or your local data.
- Clearing local data or uninstalling does not lose your purchase. Reinstall, sign in to the same Google account, and it restores.
- Deleting server-side records has no effect on your entitlement.
- For refunds, see the Purchase & Refund Policy.
